Four steps from Claude to an investigation
- Get your entitlement. MCP access is added to a DataGardener customer's entitlement. The team provides the connection details for your account.
- Add the connector. Add DataGardener MCP to Claude as a remote MCP server through Connectors, using the connection details provided.
- Authorise with OAuth. Sign in when prompted. The OAuth authorisation binds the connection to your DataGardener entitlement, so Claude sees only the modules your account allows.
- Ask in natural language. No query syntax, no exports. Claude selects the relevant DataGardener tools, queries the entitled layers and returns the answer with source and date on the records.
What to ask once connected
- “Find engineering SMEs in the West Midlands that are growing, have won public-sector work and may need additional working capital.”
- “Which of our top 50 suppliers changed ownership this year, and what do their latest accounts show?”
- “Which companies in Greater Manchester have a charge created three to five years ago with no newer charge?”
More worked prompts, with the tool calls Claude makes and the structured results it receives, are in the developer examples. The full tool list is in the tool catalogue, and data provenance explains how the source and date travel with every record.
Beyond Claude
Any MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth authorisation can connect. Clients beyond those listed are not yet tested by DataGardener. Integration pages for other clients will be added as each one is tested.
