Data sources

Where the intelligence comes from.

DataGardener MCP is built on UK public registers and official datasets, joined to DataGardener's own indexes and resolved to company registration numbers. This page lists each source, what it is, and what DataGardener derives from it, so an agent's provenance can always be traced back to the register it came from.

Companies House register

What it is. The UK company register: company profiles, status, SIC codes, registered addresses, officers and their appointments, persons with significant control, registered charges, insolvency events and confirmation statements.

What DataGardener derives from it. The core company index joined on registration number: identity and status, director networks and changes, PSC and shareholding links into group structures, charge histories with lenders and satisfaction dates, and risk signals such as late filings and status changes.

Intelligence layers: Company Intelligence, People and Directors, Ownership, Risk, Lending. Queried through tools such as search_companies, execute_query, search_group_structure, search_gs02.

Official source: Find and update company information (Companies House)

Companies House filed accounts (iXBRL)

What it is. Statutory accounts filed by UK companies, tagged in iXBRL. The register links to the filed documents; the figures inside them are not served as structured fields.

What DataGardener derives from it. Parsed, multi-year financial figures as queryable fields: turnover, profit, balance sheet, cash, employees, growth and derived ratios, so agents can screen and compare the whole population on financial conditions.

Intelligence layers: Financial Intelligence. Queried through tools such as search_ukgaap, execute_ukgaap_query, search_statutory_accounts, search_accounts_data.

Official source: Companies House filing history

Contracts Finder

What it is. The UK government service publishing public-sector contract opportunities and awards, typically below the higher procurement thresholds.

What DataGardener derives from it. Contract notices and awards resolved to registered companies: buyers, suppliers, values, CPV codes, regions and status, joined to each supplier's wider record.

Intelligence layers: Procurement. Queried through tools such as search_contracts, execute_procurement_query.

Official source: Contracts Finder

Find a Tender and Central Digital Platform notices (OCDS)

What it is. The UK's service for higher-value public procurement notices, published in the Open Contracting Data Standard under the Procurement Act regime.

What DataGardener derives from it. Higher-value notices and awards normalised alongside Contracts Finder data, so one procurement layer covers both publication routes.

Intelligence layers: Procurement. Queried through tools such as search_contracts, execute_procurement_query.

Official source: Find a Tender

Published public spend (payments over £500 and £25,000)

What it is. Transparency files that councils, combined authorities, NHS bodies and government departments publish, listing their payments to suppliers. Each body publishes its own files, in its own format.

What DataGardener derives from it. Payments collected across bodies and resolved to suppliers' company registration numbers, so an agent can ask how much the public sector has actually paid a company, not just what it was awarded.

Intelligence layers: Public Spend. Queried through tools such as execute_procurement_query.

HM Land Registry corporate ownership and price paid

What it is. HM Land Registry's data on land and property titles owned by companies, and the price-paid record of property transactions in England and Wales.

What DataGardener derives from it. Company-owned titles joined to company records, with tenure, proprietor and acquisition dates, plus price-paid transactions for market context.

Intelligence layers: Property and Land. Queried through tools such as search_corporate_land, search_land_registry, execute_land_registry_query.

Official source: HM Land Registry

HMRC importer and exporter data

What it is. HMRC's published registers of UK businesses that import and export goods.

What DataGardener derives from it. Importer and exporter flags, trading-partner countries and commodity groups joined to company records, alongside DataGardener's global revenue dataset for international footprint.

Intelligence layers: International Trade. Queried through tools such as search_global_revenue_companies, execute_global_revenue_query.

Official source: HM Revenue and Customs

DataGardener indexes and derived intelligence

What it is. The layer DataGardener itself builds and operates: entity resolution across all of the sources above, plus datasets the public registers do not hold.

What DataGardener derives from it. The connected system the agent actually queries: the company and accounts indexes, risk indicators, lending intelligence, business contact data for entitled customers, local and regional economy aggregations, and the global revenue dataset. Everything is joined on company registration number and served with source and date metadata.

Intelligence layers: Company Intelligence, Financial Intelligence, Risk, Lending, Contacts, Local and Regional Economy, International Trade. Queried through tools such as search_companies, execute_query, search_group_structure, search_gs02.

How the sources connect

Every source above is resolved to the Companies House registration number, which is what lets one question cross registers: a supplier's contract awards joined to its filed accounts, its registered charges and the property it owns. The intelligence layers page shows what each connected layer can answer, and data provenance explains how the source and date travel with every record an agent receives. Public-record data is used under the Open Government Licence.
